This Oakland-based nonprofit provides experiences and events that demonstrate the sustainable economy in action. Their expert local guide will introduce you to the people behind these projects, many of whom are presenters and speakers at the Convergence. Cost: $65, plus optional $15 lunch
Join us before the Convergence with a Food Justice Tour featuring urban farms and innovative sustainability projects in San Francisco’s East Bay. We’ll address concerns about food access, jobs, policy, and education, and engage with progressive leaders who are strengthening the local foodshed and building a resilient future for their communities. Your day includes behind-the-scene visits to several stops, including the Gill Tract Community Farm, Planting Justice and an urban homestead. Optional: A bus will be leaving from the BART station at roughly 5 pm to go up to the Solar Living Institute, with a stop for dinner, for an extra cost.
North Bay Showcase: Monday September 19th (9:30-4:30)
Cost: $80, plus optional $15 lunch
Dive deep into permaculture and local resilience with visits to educational centers and grassroots projects on this post-Convergence tour of San Francisco’s North Bay. Tour stops include Singing Frogs Farm, Permaculture Skills Center , amodel cob house, built by Miguel “Sir Cob-a lot” Elliott of Living Earth Structures. and Daily Acts (touring a public Food Forest and urban homestead).
